Wrap Around Care
Our clubs are led by our experienced Teaching Assistants, who know the children well through their work in school. This familiar, caring team helps children feel relaxed, secure and happy, while giving parents confidence that their children are being cared for by trusted members of our school community.
Children enjoy a wide variety of activities including arts and crafts, construction, board games, reading, outdoor play (weather permitting), and opportunities to relax and socialise with friends.
Breakfast is provided each morning at Breakfast Club, and a healthy afternoon snack is provided at After School Club.
Please drop-off and collect your child from the Library door, which is located at the far end of the school carpark.
Universal Free Breakfast Club
As part of the Government's Universal Free Breakfast Club initiative, all children attending Burghfield St Mary's C.E. Primary School are entitled to a free breakfast each school day.
The Government introduced this initiative to help ensure every child starts the day well-fed, ready to learn and able to achieve their full potential.
Research consistently shows that children who eat a healthy breakfast are more likely to:
- Improve their concentration and memory
- Feel settled and ready to learn
- Achieve better attendance and punctuality
- Experience improved wellbeing and positive social interaction
- Develop healthy eating habits that support learning throughout the day.
The breakfast club also provides a calm, positive start to the school day, helping children feel confident and prepared for their lessons.
Children should arrive between 8:25am and 8:45am and wait outside the pedestrian gate, where they will be welcomed into school by a member of staff. (Those parents wishing their child to start before 8.25am - please see below - Paid Breakfast Club).
A booking is required for every session. Advance bookings enable us to provide appropriate staffing levels, prepare the correct number of breakfasts and maintain safeguarding ratios. Unfortunately, children who have not been booked will not be able to attend.
Our paid Breakfast Club is available for families who require childcare before the start of the free breakfast session.
Our existing paid Breakfast Club operates from 7:30am to 8:25am. Children arriving before 8:25am will attend this provision, and the standard Breakfast Club charges will apply.
